Fix-Your-Bike Sessions

Our May Fix-Your-Bike session will take place from 10:30 to 13:00 on Saturday, 16 May 2026, at Aldersbrook Primary School, Harpenden Rd, Aldersbrook, E12 5HL, and will coincide with the school’s fun run on Wanstead Flats.

The June session will be held on Saturday, 13 June, 2026 at Ilford library, Clements Rd, Ilford, IG1 1EA.

Bring your bike along and have it checked by our volunteers. We can make sure your bike is safe to ride on the roads and we carry out some minor repairs and have a supply of basic spare parts, such as brake blocks and common sizes of inner tubes. We accept voluntary contributions by cash or card to cover the cost of spare parts.

2026 Local Election

The Redbridge Cycling Campaign committee would like to congratulate the councillors who won or retained their seats at the 2026 elections and would like to convey best wishes for the future to those we have worked with in the past who are no longer on the Council.

We look forward to working with the Council in the future, including the Labour and Green members who committed to the Streets for Cycling pledge and with all the other Councillors.

May 2026 Local Elections – Pledges

Two political parties in Redbridge have now given their support to the Streets For Cycling campaign to commit to improving cycling infrastructure.

Labour Party

Cllr Kam Rai, Labour Leader of Redbridge Council, said: “Cycling is central to our Sustainable Transport Strategy and as a local Labour Party we are committed to making active travel more accessible to all Redbridge residents. From introducing more cycle lanes, opening up Wanstead Park by building a walking and cycling bridge over the River Roding and organising Ride Redbridge, we have championed cycling and if re-elected we will continue to do so.”

Cllr Jo Blackman added: “As a keen cyclist, I’m grateful to LCC and our local RCC for all their input on our cycle plans and for all the many bike rides they’ve organised in Redbridge. Ride Redbridge was one of the highlights of my time as a councillor and I hope it can become a regular event.

“I’m proud of the 20km of cycle lanes we’ve introduced along with improved cycle storage. Our Sustainable Transport Strategy sets out ambitious plans to further extend our cycling infrastructure across the borough and I hope we have the opportunity to deliver it with support from TfL after the elections.”

Green Party

For the Greens, Redbridge council candidate Nadir Gilani said: “Redbridge Green Party  believes cycling should be safe and accessible to everyone.  We are committed to completing the cycle routes identified by TfL for the borough by 2030’ (or at least working hard towards this goal subject to funding).”

He added: “We’re very happy to sign the pledge, and really look forward to working with you as you take the campaign forward.

“Walking, wheeling and cycling don’t just help reduce carbon emissions and air pollution – they can make us all happier and healthier too. The Redbridge Green Party commits to working hard to ensure active travel is safer for and meets the needs of all its residents. This includes improving links to the existing network of cycle paths and superhighways, making accident hotspots safer, and supporting projects that reduce traffic.”

Other Parties

We have also contacted the local Conservative, Liberal Democrat and Reform parties.

Cllr Paul Canal, Conservative group leader on Redbridge Council, responded. The Conservatives have not pledged or provided a quote for publication. My understanding of Cllr Canal’s view is that the Conservatives support creation of a safe cycling network. They believe this should be balanced by the need for a safe and efficient way for cars to travel in London.
