You are invited to a special meeting of the Redbridge Cycle Campaign taking place at the York Room at Redbridge Central Library at 7.30pm on the 15th of October.
This will be an opportunity for residents of Redbridge to talk to the decision-makers and experts on how they want the future vision of walking and cycling infrastructure in Redbridge to be shaped.
The scheme promises:
- Improved access to Ilford town centre
- New segregated cycle lanes along with new bridges over the River Roding and Aldersbrook, enabling more people to walk and cycle to neighbourhoods north of Ilford Town Centre
- Developing good access to the future Ilford Housing Zone with quality open space along the river Roding valley and cycle links to Wanstead, Stratford, Barking and Essex
- £3.2m from TfL and £2m from the London Borough of Redbridge
It will be your opportunity to ask important questions, such as:
- What will be the impact on residents?
- When will the scheme be delivered?
- Will local businesses benefit from the scheme and how?
The format will be a panel discussion with some very special VIPs. We will be joined by Will Norman, who is London’s first Walking and Cycling Commissioner and is working to deliver the Mayor’s pledges to make walking and cycling safer and easier in the capital. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys both running and walking throughout the capital. He lives with his family in east London.
Additionally, Councillor John Howard, Redbridge Cabinet Officer for Civic Responsibility will also be joining us on the panel. Will is a councillor for Aldborough Ward. His department is responsible for winning the bid to invest more than £3 million for the Ilford Liveable Neighbourhood project and delivering the scheme.
Simon Munk is London Cycle Campaign’s Infrastructure Campaign Officer. He has been an avid campaigner for better infrastructure in his borough of Waltham Forest – where he was one of the resident champions that helped Waltham Forest get awarded the pioneering Mini Holland Scheme – which has been lauded around the UK as a model for modern walking and cycling infrastructure.
