Redbridge Rides

The climax of our May rides was the Ride London Freecycle, when 108 cyclists came with us to central London to enjoy traffic-free streets for the day. There’s a short report on our rides page.

The season surges ahead with three events planned for June. The Wanstead Park to Richmond ride on 10 June is already fully booked. There is a waiting list in case of cancellations. To join send us a message and we’ll let you know if a place becomes available.

There are still places available for our ride to the Tour de Waltham Forest on Sunday 11 June and to come on our June family ride from Wanstead Park to Fairlop Waters on Sunday 18 June. For details and booking links, go to the rides page.

We hope to see you on a ride soon!

ULEZ Expansion

Last weekend, a group of doctors and medical professionals cycled 253 km around the edge of London, closely following the new ULEZ boundary. Dr. Mark Hayden, one of our Redbridge marshals, organised the event. LCC members from across London accompanied the group on sections of the route. RCC rides co-ordinator Haydn met them on the north side of the Dartford Crossing and cycled with them to the end of their ride at Harold Hill. For more about  “Ride for their Lives” and the reasons health professionals are supporting initiatives that reduce air pollution, have a look at their website.

March Newsletter Out Now

The March 2023 Redbridge Cycling Campaign newsletter is out. There are success stories –  the Woodford New Road cycleway extension is being built and the Women’s Freedom Ride was a great success. Read the latest about the Ilford to Barking cycleway and five new School Streets schemes now in the offing. And don’t forget to have your say with our petition to Sadiq Khan and LB Redbridge consultations. Click here to access the newsletter.

04.03.2023 Women’s Freedom Ride Last-Minute Places

If you’re quick, places are still available on tomorrow’s Women’s Freedom Ride in Central London. London Cycling Campaign increased the number, so if you tried before and didn’t succeed, it’s worth trying again. And we’d love to see you on our ride from Redbridge to join the main ride (and bring you safely back!) Don’t forget to book places on both rides if you need them. Booking links are on our rides page here.

It’s going to be cold like today so dress accordingly. There won’t be much time to stop at a cafe, so we’re recommending you bring something to eat. And one correction: the Elizabeth Line will be closed east of Stratford, so come with us or cycle part of the way.

See you tomorrow!
